           Postdoctoral Research Associate

This Postdoctoral Research Associate position will study the biology of adeno-associated viruses (AAV) with emphasis on cell biology or humoral immunity.  The position will be involved with writing grants and managing multiple projects is expected. This position will oversee and teach graduate students.


Candidates should have a PhD in any field of biology with a strong background in virology, cell biology or immunology. Strong technical skills in any subset of the following areas are preferred: establishing clonal cell populations, fluorescence microscopy, subcellular trafficking OR generation of monoclonal antibodies, flow cytometry, establishing transgenic mouse models, mouse handling & surgery. First author peer-reviewed publications as well as strong communication skills are required.  The candidate must currently be authorized to work in the United States.

 

 

Translational Research Fellowships in Muscular Dystrophy

Gene Therapy

 

The Senator Paul D. Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Research Cooperative Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking post-doctoral fellows in research targeted at gene therapy for muscular dystrophy. Fellowship positions are open to post-doctoral students with an earned doctorate (Ph.D., M.D., etc) who are interested in basic or translational research related to any of the diverse disciplines that collaborate to develop and implement gene therapy for human muscular dystrophies. These include engineering and testing of viral vectors, design and testing of gene therapy in animal models and immunology as related to musculoskeletal diseases. The Senator Paul D. Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Research Cooperative Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a collaborative effort of faculty in the UNC Gene Therapy Center, UNC School of Medicine and the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
